Womenovate and Tech Revolution Africa have announced a strategic partnership to host the 5th edition of the Women in Technology and Engineering Summit and Awards, WITESA 5.0, in Lagos. This marks the first time the summit will be held in the city, positioning Lagos as a continental stage for advancing women’s leadership in technology and engineering.

This collaboration is designed to deliver measurable impact. By combining Womenovate’s focus on empowering women in STEAM with Tech Revolution Africa’s broad technology ecosystem, the initiative aims to strengthen inclusion, expand access to opportunities and build stronger connections between talent and industry across Africa.

WITESA 5.0 is not only an expansion of an existing platform. It represents a deliberate alignment between community and industry, visibility and opportunity, ambition and infrastructure. The organizers say the goal is clear: to move beyond celebration and create lasting systems that support women in technology and engineering.

Driving Inclusion and Industry Growth

The 2026 edition of WITESA will convene more than 2,000 diverse leaders, innovators and policymakers. Over 60 speakers will lead conversations across nine inclusive tracks covering artificial intelligence, green technology and equitable scaling. The two day conference in Lagos is expected to draw more than 5,000 participants, creating one of the largest gatherings focused on women in technology in the region.

In addition, 50 startups will pitch their innovations, giving founders direct access to investors, corporate leaders and policy stakeholders. This structure is designed to connect talent to platforms and platforms to real decision making power. It creates a space where ideas can move from discussion to implementation.

Motunrayo Opayinka, Founder of Womenovate, described the scale of the event with enthusiasm. “Super excited for this! Convening 2,000+ diverse leaders, innovators, policymakers, 60+ speakers across 9 inclusive tracks on AI, green tech and equitable scaling, 50 startups pitching breakthroughs, 5,000+ participants in a high-impact 2-day Lagos conference.”

The summit signals a shift in how Africa approaches leadership in technology and engineering. It reflects a growing recognition that the continent’s future competitiveness depends on inclusive participation and stronger collaboration between sectors.

Strengthening the Ecosystem for Women in STEAM

Womenovate operates as a female focused online learning platform serving women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture and Mathematics globally. The platform provides access to resources, training courses and job opportunities from world class universities and companies. Its mission is to close the gender gap and increase female participation in STEAM fields.

Through education and practical experience, Womenovate works to eliminate barriers that have historically limited women’s entry and advancement in these sectors. The organization is focused on normalizing both education and industry exposure for Nigerian women in STEAM, opening access to long term career opportunities.

“At Womenovate, we understand that women are the core of the economic engine for any nation and economic loss from gender inequality is fast increasing globally,” said Motunrayo Opayinka, CVO and Founder of Womenovate.

Tech Revolution Africa brings scale and reach to the partnership. Recognized as the largest convergence of tech pioneers, industry leaders and aspiring innovators in Nigeria, the organization is dedicated to building and connecting the next generation of technology talent. Its mission is to create a dynamic ecosystem that fosters innovation, collaboration and growth across Africa.

By aligning with Tech Revolution Africa, WITESA 5.0 gains access to an established network that includes tech enthusiasts, startups and major industry players shaping the future of technology. The partnership strengthens the bridge between emerging female talent and the broader tech economy.

As WITESA 5.0 prepares for Lagos, the message is clear. Africa’s technology leadership is evolving. It is becoming more inclusive, more collaborative and more structured. Through this partnership, Womenovate and Tech Revolution Africa are not only hosting a summit. They are building a stronger foundation for women in technology and engineering and positioning Lagos as a key hub in Africa’s innovation story.
