Applications are now open for the Women in Tech Accelerator 2026, a programme designed to drive real growth for women-led tech startups across Africa, the Middle East and Pakistan. Backed by the Standard Chartered Foundation and implemented by Village Capital, the initiative is expected to strengthen early-stage businesses by providing funding, practical support and access to networks that are often difficult for founders to reach.
At a time when many women entrepreneurs face limited access to capital and mentorship, the programme offers a clear pathway to scale. More than $600,000 in grant funding will be distributed in 2026, giving selected startups the financial support needed to expand operations, improve products and reach new markets. Beyond funding, the accelerator focuses on building stronger businesses through investment readiness training, mentorship and direct engagement with industry experts and investors.
Startups that join the programme will receive tailored venture support, helping them refine their business models and strengthen their market strategies. Founders will also gain access to global networks, opening doors to partnerships and future investment opportunities. The programme places strong emphasis on practical growth, ensuring that participants leave with clearer strategies and stronger foundations.
The impact of the initiative is already visible. In its first year, the programme distributed over $550,000 in grants to 21 women-led startups. These businesses went on to reach nearly 16,000 new customers, create more than 430 jobs and increase revenues by $2.7 million. These results highlight how targeted support can translate into measurable economic outcomes.
In 2026, the programme will expand across 12 markets including Bahrain, Botswana, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, the UAE, Uganda and Zambia. It targets women-led startups with working products or early traction in sectors such as fintech, healthtech, edtech, agritech, artificial intelligence and digital services.
Eligible founders are encouraged to apply before the June 30, 2026 deadline. Selected participants will not only access funding but also join a wider ecosystem designed to support long-term growth. By combining capital, training and connections, the Women in Tech Accelerator continues to position itself as a key platform for unlocking the potential of women entrepreneurs in emerging markets.
