Tyms Inc. has partnered with Seedstars to make bookkeeping and financial reporting more accessible to entrepreneurs across emerging markets. Through an integration with Seedstars’ SIGMA platform, eligible entrepreneurs in participating programs will be able to manage their financial records and generate key financial statements without needing formal accounting expertise.
The partnership targets a common challenge for small businesses across Africa, Latin America and Southeast Asia. Many entrepreneurs have the business data they need but do not maintain formal financial records. This can make it difficult to access loans, attract investors, apply for grants or qualify for formal business opportunities.
For many founders, accounting is not the reason they started a business. They are focused on selling products, serving customers and growing their operations. However, financial statements are often required when they seek funding or other opportunities. Tyms and Seedstars aim to reduce this barrier by bringing financial management tools directly into an existing platform used by entrepreneurs.
Making Financial Records Easier to Access
The integration connects Tyms’ AI-native accounting platform, through its AI accounting agent Adam, with Seedstars’ SIGMA platform. Eligible entrepreneurs can upload a bank statement and have transactions automatically categorized, take a photo of a receipt or describe a transaction in plain language.
Adam then handles the bookkeeping processes behind the scenes, including categorization and journal entries. As financial information is entered, entrepreneurs can generate income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements. They can also ask questions about their financial information in natural language.
The aim is to remove the need for users to understand accounting terms such as debits, credits and charts of accounts before they can maintain useful financial records.
“Every business owner deserves to know where their money is going, regardless of whether they can afford an accountant,” said Ibrahim Adepoju, CEO and Co-founder of Tyms. He said the belief was central to the development of Tyms and that the partnership with Seedstars would help bring the technology to thousands of founders across three continents.
For Seedstars, the integration responds to a practical need among entrepreneurs already working to grow their businesses. Pierre-Alain Masson, CEO and Co-founder of Seedstars, said many entrepreneurs have business data but lack the financial records required to make informed decisions or engage lenders and investors. He said connecting Tyms with SIGMA provides eligible founders with a practical way to turn that information into usable financial statements.
Supporting Growth and Financial Inclusion
The impact of the partnership could extend beyond easier bookkeeping. Better financial records can give entrepreneurs a clearer view of their businesses, helping them understand cash flow, track performance and make more informed decisions. They can also strengthen their ability to communicate with lenders, investors and other institutions that require reliable financial information.
Seedstars has worked across more than 90 countries, supporting entrepreneurs in emerging and frontier markets through investment, education, programs and networks. Headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the company works with public and private partners to strengthen entrepreneurial ecosystems and support social and economic development.
Tyms, meanwhile, provides AI-powered bookkeeping, financial reporting and accounting support for small and medium-sized businesses in Africa and internationally.
The partnership also reflects a wider shift towards embedding AI-powered financial tools into platforms that already serve entrepreneurs, rather than requiring businesses to adopt separate accounting systems. Tyms says the integration is intended to serve as a model for future partnerships with platforms in areas such as banking, lending, e-commerce and coworking.
