The SIA Foundation has opened applications for Cohort 3 of its Startup Foundry, a program designed to help early-stage entrepreneurs turn ideas into structured, sustainable businesses. With $10,000 in seed funding available, the initiative aims to provide financial support, mentorship, training and networking opportunities to promising startups across Nigeria.

The Startup Foundry targets entrepreneurs who are validating an early-stage idea, building without a clear structure or seeking guidance and accountability to grow. Over six months, 50 selected participants will benefit from world-class entrepreneurial training, practical execution support and access to experienced mentors. The program also emphasizes community, allowing founders to share experiences, collaborate and learn from each other.

Structured Support and Seed Funding for Startups

One of the key highlights of Cohort 3 is the opportunity to compete for seed funding. Six exceptional businesses will receive a share of $10,000, distributed as follows: the first prize winner will receive $3,000, two second-place winners will receive $2,000 each and three additional participants will get $1,000 each. This capital is designed to provide startups with a boost to scale operations, refine their products or launch critical initiatives.

Beyond funding, participants gain access to mentorship from industry leaders, legal and administrative toolkits, and product development support. The program also emphasizes the importance of structured processes, helping founders navigate complex business challenges while building scalable and sustainable models.

Eligible businesses must demonstrate growth potential, market viability and a unique idea. Founders should be between 20 and 35 years old, with a business operational for one to two years. Required documentation includes a business plan with financial projections, customer testimonials, a three-month business account statement and evidence of the founder’s track record through resumes, reference letters or awards. Focus areas include technology-enabled businesses in healthcare, education, agriculture, light manufacturing, renewable energy and recycling.

Driving Nigeria’s Entrepreneurial Growth

Nigeria’s entrepreneurial landscape is vibrant but often faces challenges such as limited access to finance, skills gaps and infrastructural hurdles. Programs like the Startup Foundry aim to address these gaps by providing a structured environment for startups to develop, refine and grow. Over the course of six months, SIA Foundation intends to transform 50 businesses, equipping entrepreneurs with the knowledge, networks and resources necessary to succeed.

The initiative not only supports individual startups but also contributes to the broader ecosystem by fostering innovation, creating jobs and strengthening the country’s economic fabric. Entrepreneurs with ideas that can disrupt markets or solve pressing challenges are encouraged to apply and benefit from this comprehensive support system.
