Shuttlers Launches Door-to-Door Pod Service to Make Commuting More Affordable in Lagos

Shuttlers has launched Shuttlers Pod, a technology-enabled shared mobility service designed to make commuting across Lagos more affordable, reliable and convenient. The new service targets workers, event attendees and other commuters who want the comfort of a private vehicle without paying the full cost of a traditional car hire or ride-hailing trip.

The service is expected to give Lagos commuters another option at a time when transport costs continue to put pressure on household incomes. Pod uses scheduled trips and shared rides to reduce costs, with each trip costing about 50% less than typical ride-hailing fares.

A More Affordable Approach to Urban Transport

Shuttlers Pod applies the company’s scheduled bus model to private vehicles. Instead of requiring passengers to travel to a bus stop, the service provides door-to-door pickup and drop-off.

Each scheduled vehicle carries three to four commuters traveling along similar routes. Riders are taken directly to their destinations, while those who prefer a private trip can book the entire vehicle. Every journey has a named driver, known as a Pilot, a fixed fare and a guaranteed pickup time.

The model removes some of the uncertainty associated with traditional transport and on-demand ride-hailing. There is no surge pricing or roadside fare negotiation. By relying on advance bookings and fixed pricing, Shuttlers aims to provide a more predictable transport option for commuters.

Shuttlers CEO and Co-Founder Damilola Olokesusi said the new service responds to the growing pressure on Nigerians as the cost of living rises.

“Nigeria’s cost of living is rising faster than incomes,” Olokesusi said. He added that shared mobility offers a smarter way to move people while keeping transport affordable. According to him, Shuttlers Pod brings the company’s experience in scheduled shared transport into private and shared trips that are “safe, premium and affordable” from the commuter’s doorstep to their destination.

The launch expands Shuttlers’ existing mobility portfolio. Its services include Shuttlers Daily for scheduled work commutes, Shuttlers for Business for employee transportation and Shuttlers Rental for vehicle hire. Shuttlers EventGo also provides shared transport for events.

Building a Larger Urban Mobility Network

The Pod launch builds on Shuttlers’ growing position in Nigeria’s transport sector. Founded in 2016, the company has completed more than 10 million journeys and recently became Nigeria’s first private mobility operator to be listed on Google Maps Transit.

Shuttlers currently facilitates more than 600,000 monthly trips across more than 1,000 itineraries and 400 routes in Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt. The company operates more than 430 buses daily and serves more than 50,000 professionals through its daily work commute services. It also reports a 99% trip completion rate since its launch.

Beyond passenger services, Shuttlers’ wider platform includes PoolCar and its Vehicle Partner Programme, which helps fleet operators increase earnings from their vehicles. The company employs more than 300 drivers daily and creates recurring income opportunities for fleet partners.

With Shuttlers Pod, the company is extending this network into private and shared car journeys. The service is currently open for waitlist sign-ups through the Shuttlers website. Its launch adds another layer to the company’s efforts to make urban transport more accessible while creating business opportunities across the mobility ecosystem.
