Paystack Launches an SME Growth Program For Nigerian Small Businesses

Nigerian fintech giant Paystack has launched a new small-business support initiative to help entrepreneurs access critical operational tools, business resources and growth capital, as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) continue to face mounting economic pressures in Africa’s largest economy.

The company on Sunday announced the launch of the Paystack Small Business Program, a multi-pronged initiative designed to support businesses at every stage of their growth journey, from startup to scale-up, through discounted services, hands-on business support and direct grant funding.

At the heart of the initiative is the Paystack Small Business Bundle, which offers eligible Nigerian merchants access to discounts worth up to ₦4 million (approx. $ 3,000) on a range of business tools and services spanning commerce, bookkeeping, logistics, customer communications, workspace solutions, design and digital operations.

The move comes at a critical time for Nigeria’s small business sector, which remains the backbone of the economy but continues to grapple with inflationary pressures, rising operating costs, limited access to affordable finance and growing competition in an increasingly digital marketplace.

Small and medium-sized enterprises account for more than 90% of businesses in Nigeria and contribute significantly to employment and economic activity. Yet many entrepreneurs still struggle with day-to-day operational challenges, including managing sales records, reaching customers, coordinating deliveries and accessing affordable technology solutions needed to compete and grow.

Paystack said the new program was created to provide practical support to businesses navigating these challenges while preparing for their next stage of expansion.

“We’re excited to introduce the Paystack Small Business Bundle, a collection of discounted tools, services and partner offers that gives eligible Nigerian businesses access to up to ₦4 million in savings,” said Jumoke Gbeleyi, Head of Strategy and Operations at Paystack, adding that the initiative is designed to help merchants operate more efficiently and grow sustainably.

The Paystack Small Business Program will roll out through three key pillars.

The first is the Paystack Small Business Bundle, a package of tools, partner offers and resources intended to reduce operating costs and improve business efficiency.

“The bundle brings together offers from selected partners across commerce, bookkeeping, logistics, design, workspace, customer communication, business operations, and more,” the company said.

The second is the Paystack Small Business Launchpad, which will provide dedicated support to high-potential businesses, helping them maximize Paystack’s products and accelerate growth.

The third is the Paystack Small Business Grant, which will provide direct funding support to selected high-potential businesses seeking capital for expansion.

The bundle brings together a broad ecosystem of technology and business service providers, reflecting a growing trend across Africa’s startup ecosystem toward collaborative support networks for entrepreneurs.

Participating partners include Bumpa, Ijeworks, Wiicreate, Flowcart, Simplebks, Africaworks, Paystack, Kindlybook, FezDelivery, Gamp, Pressone, Mercurie, Shuttlers and Canva.

The discounts cover essential functions that many small businesses struggle to afford independently, including accounting software, logistics solutions, digital commerce platforms, creative design tools, customer engagement services and workplace infrastructure.

Industry analysts say such support could prove valuable as African SMEs increasingly digitize operations to remain competitive.

Across the continent, digital adoption among small businesses has accelerated sharply since the pandemic, driven by the growth of mobile payments, e-commerce and cloud-based business services. However, affordability remains a major barrier, particularly for smaller enterprises operating on thin margins.

By bundling multiple services under a single initiative, Paystack is attempting to lower those barriers while strengthening the broader ecosystem around its payments platform.

The company plans to support 2,000 Nigerian SMEs through the initial phase of the Small Business Bundle, with additional partner offers expected to be added over time.

To qualify, businesses must have a live Paystack account, operate within Nigeria and have processed at least 10 Paystack transactions in the previous 30 days.

Eligible merchants can apply through the program portal, where they can browse available partner offers, submit business details and receive redemption instructions once eligibility has been verified.

The launch underscores a broader shift among African fintech companies from providing payments infrastructure alone to offering integrated business growth solutions.

As competition intensifies in Africa’s digital commerce sector, companies are increasingly positioning themselves as ecosystem partners, helping businesses access not only payment services but also financing, operational tools and strategic support.

For Paystack, one of Africa’s most influential fintech firms, the initiative represents a deeper investment in the entrepreneurial businesses that power its platform.

For Nigeria’s SMEs, it offers a rare combination of cost savings, mentorship and potential funding at a time when many businesses are searching for new ways to navigate economic uncertainty and unlock growth.
