Twenty young entrepreneurs have been selected for the latest Orange Corners Nigeria (Lagos) incubation programme, a development expected to strengthen Nigeria’s startup ecosystem and support the growth of businesses addressing some of the country’s most pressing challenges.

Chosen from more than 1,000 applications, the 20 entrepreneurs represent a diverse range of sectors including agribusiness, technology, healthcare, food processing, education, mobility, manufacturing and sustainability. Their selection marks the beginning of a six-month incubation journey designed to help them grow their businesses, expand their impact and create new economic opportunities within their communities.

The programme, which is an initiative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, focuses on empowering young entrepreneurs with the tools they need to build sustainable businesses. By supporting innovative solutions to local challenges, Orange Corners contributes to entrepreneurship development, job creation and progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals.

For Nigeria, initiatives such as Orange Corners play an important role in helping young business founders overcome common challenges such as limited access to mentorship, business networks, skills development and growth opportunities. The selected entrepreneurs will receive structured support aimed at strengthening their businesses and improving their chances of long-term success.

Building Stronger Businesses Through Practical Support

Orange Corners provides a comprehensive incubation programme that goes beyond traditional business training. Participants gain access to skills development workshops covering various stages of building and growing social enterprises. They also receive coaching and mentoring designed to strengthen both their business capabilities and personal leadership skills.

The programme includes personalised follow-up through advisory boards and strategic committees that provide guidance tailored to each entrepreneur’s needs. Participants also benefit from networking opportunities, professional events and collaborations with fellow entrepreneurs, creating valuable connections that can support future growth.

In addition, incubatees have access to dedicated incubation facilities where they can work, collaborate and develop their ideas in a supportive environment. These resources help young founders move from concept to execution while improving their ability to attract customers, partners and investment opportunities.

Orange Corners is managed by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The initiative is implemented in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and local partners across participating countries in Africa and the Middle East.

A New Generation of Nigerian Entrepreneurs

The newly selected cohort reflects the growing diversity and ambition of Nigeria’s entrepreneurial landscape. Through their businesses, these founders are developing solutions in agriculture, health, environmental sustainability, technology, mobility, manufacturing and consumer products.

Over the next six months, they will participate in intensive training, mentorship and business development activities aimed at helping them scale their operations and increase their social and economic impact.

As the incubation programme begins, attention will be on how these entrepreneurs transform their ideas into thriving enterprises capable of creating jobs, improving livelihoods and contributing to Nigeria’s economic development. Their journey also highlights the increasing importance of entrepreneurship support programmes in helping young innovators turn promising ideas into sustainable businesses.
