Orange Corners Innovation Fund Launches in Tunisia

When opportunity meets preparation, change begins to take shape. With the launch of the Orange Corners Innovation Fund (OCIF) in Tunisia, a new pathway has opened for young entrepreneurs to transform their potential into real impact. This milestone marks Tunisia as the 20th country to host the program, strengthening a movement that places youth entrepreneurship at the heart of economic growth. It signals not only investment in start-ups but in the long-term future of Tunisia’s economy and society.

At the official launch, the energy spoke volumes. The very first ten OCIF Tunisia winners stood before an audience and pitched their businesses with confidence and clarity, as if they had been preparing for this moment their entire lives. Their performance was the result of strong preparation and much credit was given to Lab’ess, the local partner of Orange Corners in Tunisia, for equipping these young entrepreneurs with the training and support needed to present at such a high standard. The event itself was seamless, reflecting both the dedication of Lab’ess and the promise of what this partnership can deliver over the next five years.

The winners will now benefit not only from investment but also from the wider package that OCIF provides. This includes business development support, training and access to networks that are essential for any start-up to grow. The goal is not just to help individuals succeed but to build an ecosystem where entrepreneurship can thrive and where young people see viable opportunities for their future. By combining funding with mentorship and connections, OCIF creates a path for these entrepreneurs to scale their businesses in a way that is both sustainable and impactful.

The significance of this launch was further highlighted by the presence of H.E. Josephine Frantzen, the Ambassador of the Netherlands to Tunisia, who opened her home to celebrate this milestone with partners and participants. It was a reminder of how diplomacy, business and community can work hand in hand to support development that is inclusive and long lasting.

Orange Corners itself is an initiative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, built on the belief that young people across Africa, Asia and the Middle East hold the ideas and drive needed to power future economies. Its mission is to set up physical “corners” where young entrepreneurs can take part in intensive training programs designed to strengthen their skills, expand their knowledge and connect them with networks that increase their chances of success. What makes this initiative different is that it does not stop at offering workspaces or training. Instead, it brings together local, Dutch and international partners from government, academia, business and civil society to create an environment where entrepreneurship can truly grow.

Each Orange Corners program is initiated by a local Dutch embassy, ensuring that it responds to the specific context and needs of the host country. OCIF itself operates as part of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reflecting the strong commitment of the Dutch government to youth entrepreneurship and economic development worldwide.

The long-term impact of such initiatives cannot be overstated. By supporting young entrepreneurs, OCIF directly addresses the challenge of youth unemployment, which remains a pressing issue in Tunisia and across the region. Young people who have the tools, networks and funding to succeed are not only able to create jobs for themselves but also for others, helping to build stronger and more resilient economies. The ripple effect of this support goes beyond business creation, it fosters innovation, strengthens industries and builds communities that are better prepared for the future.

The launch of OCIF in Tunisia is a beginning but it also symbolizes continuity in a broader effort to support young people who are willing to take risks, dream big and build something new. Over the next five years, as OCIF and Lab’ess work together, many more Tunisian entrepreneurs will benefit from this program and their achievements will tell the story of why initiatives like this matter. The Orange Corners Innovation Fund is not just about financing start-ups. It is about giving young people the belief, the skills and the opportunities they need to change their lives and contribute to their country’s growth.
