Driven by Morocco’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, GreenUp Morocco reflects the country’s growing emphasis on policy-backed entrepreneurship. The programme combines incubation, mentorship and infrastructure support to accelerate startups tackling some of the most pressing climate and energy challenges.

Applications are now open for the inaugural edition of GreenUp Morocco, a pioneering incubation programme designed to fast-track the growth of early-stage startups and entrepreneurs working in renewable energy and sustainable development. More than just a support programme, GreenUp Morocco aims to be a launchpad for Morocco’s next generation of innovators by providing them with the tools, expertise and ecosystem connections needed to bring impactful ideas to market.

GreenUp Morocco is a collaborative initiative launched by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development and the RES4Africa Foundation, in partnership with University Mohammed VI Polytechnic (UM6P) and with support from the Enel Foundation. Together, these partners are focused on developing and scaling renewable energy-focused businesses that can address real needs in the Moroccan economy while advancing environmental sustainability.

The programme is open to both aspiring and established entrepreneurs who have innovative business ideas or ongoing projects in sectors related to the energy transition. Up to ten startups or entrepreneurial teams will be selected to join an intensive incubation journey hosted at UM6P’s innovation campus in Ben Guerir. Selected participants will benefit from expert-led workshops, peer learning opportunities and structured community-building activities that promote cross-collaboration and real-world problem solving.

Participants will also receive personalized coaching and strategic mentoring from a pool of experts covering a wide range of areas, including business development, legal and regulatory compliance, circular economy, digitalisation and fundraising. This tailored guidance is designed to help entrepreneurs refine their business models, build traction and prepare for investment.

One of the unique aspects of the GreenUp Morocco programme is its access to state-of-the-art innovation facilities. Selected startups will be able to use premium coworking spaces, prototyping labs (Fablabs) and Living Labs housed within UM6P’s campus. These resources offer the ideal environment for product development, solution testing and proof-of-concept validation, helping founders move from idea to execution with technical support close at hand.

Toward the end of the incubation cycle, the programme will host a series of bootcamps focused on investment readiness and market access. These intensive sessions will prepare participants to pitch their solutions to a panel of investors, industry leaders and ecosystem actors at a high-profile Demo Day. The goal is to ensure that promising solutions do not remain theoretical but receive the exposure, feedback and connections they need to move forward commercially.

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must be between 18 and 39 years old. Their proposed solution must target the Moroccan market and the startup must either already be registered in Morocco or be willing to register in the country. Applicants must reside or study in Morocco or their startup must be officially registered there. A working knowledge of both English and French is required, reflecting the bilingual nature of the programme’s content and coaching.

Eligible sectors span the broad fields of renewable energy and sustainable development, including green technology, local manufacturing, digital tools, circular economy solutions, energy storage, clean mobility, clean cooking, innovative business models and the Water-Energy-Food Nexus. Applicants must demonstrate a functioning prototype and a clear understanding of the problem their solution seeks to address.

The selection process will evaluate proposals based on innovation, market potential, financial feasibility, scalability and the entrepreneur’s readiness to participate actively in coaching and mentorship activities. The programme is open to both individuals and teams, provided all group members are clearly identified. However, only one application may be submitted per individual or group.

Applications must be submitted in English by 31 August 2025 at 23:59 CET. Each application must include the completed online form, a CV, a valid identification document and supporting materials such as pitch decks or product mockups that can demonstrate the maturity of the business idea or prototype.

GreenUp Morocco is more than an incubation programme. It is part of a broader national strategy to position entrepreneurship at the heart of Morocco’s sustainable development agenda. By equipping young founders with critical resources and helping them bring solutions to market, the programme represents a meaningful investment in both economic resilience and environmental innovation.

Through this public-private collaboration, Morocco is sending a strong signal that it is serious about fostering an inclusive and forward-looking entrepreneurship ecosystem. GreenUp Morocco sets the stage for young visionaries to take bold steps in solving the country’s most urgent sustainability challenges.
