Love Kinks Secures Funding to Scale Operations and Strengthen Natural Hair Care Market

The story of Love Kinks did not begin in a boardroom or with investors at the table. It started with a young woman standing in front of a mirror, learning her hair, questioning what she had been taught and choosing to do things differently. From that moment, Sinovuyo Mondliwa built something that spoke to a wider community of women searching for the same understanding. Years later, after navigating setbacks, delayed promises and long periods of waiting, the business has reached a defining milestone. With new funding secured, Love Kinks is entering a phase of growth that reflects more than financial success. It reflects endurance, belief and a vision that has remained steady through uncertainty.

“It feels unreal to say that Love Kinks has finally received funding, with an opportunity to increase that funding over the next year in line with our business needs,” Mondliwa said. For the company, the funding represents more than capital. It marks a turning point after years of persistence.

Founded in 2016, Love Kinks was born from Mondliwa’s personal journey of embracing and caring for her natural Type 4 hair. Through this process, she discovered a community of women who were also learning to love their natural hair, inspiring the creation of a brand that provides ingredient-conscious, high-quality solutions tailored for kinky textures. The business was built to support healthy hair journeys and to respond to a market that has historically underserved Black hair.

“As a founder and CEO, part of my role has been to find partners who truly understand the vision,” she said. “Four years later, persistence paid off with a contract that once felt uncertain but has now translated into money in the bank.”

Turning Investment into Growth

The impact of the funding is already visible in Love Kinks’ operations. The company has moved quickly to secure stock and strengthen its ability to scale in response to growing demand.

“These funds have already been put to work, securing stock and strengthening our ability to scale,” Mondliwa explained. Strategic partnerships are also shaping this next phase. Love Kinks has partnered with Parcelninja to streamline order fulfilment and with Cin7 to improve stock and production management. These systems are expected to improve efficiency and allow the team to focus on product development and growth.

The journey to this point has not been without challenges. “Along the way, there were many promises and approvals that never materialised into real support,” she said. The funding now stands as proof that timing, alignment and resilience are just as important as the business idea itself.

A Brand Rooted in Purpose and Community

At its core, Love Kinks is built on a mission to celebrate natural beauty and make healthy hair care simple and achievable. The brand continues to address the long-standing gap in products designed specifically for kinky and natural hair textures.

“Building something from the ground up requires more than just vision, it demands resilience, discipline and the courage to keep going even when things feel uncertain,” Mondliwa said. Her journey reflects a commitment not only to building a business but also to personal growth and consistency.

She also highlighted the importance of collaboration and community in her work. “I thrive to deliver excellence to the best of my ability together with the professionals I work with and trust. I am deeply rooted in community and believe family keeps society together.”

The brand’s progress adds to key milestones, including its retail presence in Clicks stores, which Mondliwa describes as her biggest achievement so far.

As Love Kinks continues to grow, the focus remains on building a sustainable business while staying true to its purpose. “This is just the beginning and a powerful reminder that staying committed to your vision, even when the path feels uncertain, eventually leads somewhere meaningful,” she said.
