Linearsend Launches Revve 2.0 to Give Users More Control Over Remittances

Linearsend, a Canadian fintech founded by Nigerians, has launched Revve 2.0, the biggest update in the platform’s history, with a new peer-to-peer marketplace designed to give users greater control over how they exchange and send money.

At the centre of the update is Revve P2P, a feature that allows users to set their own exchange rate instead of simply accepting the rate provided by a remittance platform. The company believes the model could give diaspora communities more choice, improve access to competitive rates and make sending money across borders more transparent.

For many people sending money home, exchange rates can have a direct impact on how much their families receive. Revve P2P is designed to change that by allowing users to decide what rate they are willing to offer. Sellers list the amount they want to exchange and their preferred rate, while another verified user can choose to accept the offer.

The transaction only moves forward when both parties agree. While a trade is pending, the seller’s funds are held in escrow, reducing the risk of one party failing to complete the transaction. Once a bid is accepted, the funds are locked in. If there is no match, the listing expires.

Giving Users More Control Over Remittances

The peer-to-peer model could be particularly useful for diaspora communities that regularly send money to family members and businesses across Africa. Rather than relying entirely on rates set by a platform, users have an opportunity to find a rate that works for both sides of the transaction.

Trust is an important part of making such a system work. Linearsend has built verification into the process, requiring users to complete full KYC before they can trade. Only verified users can be matched, adding another layer of protection to transactions involving real money.

“For years, sending money home has meant accepting whatever rate and whatever wait time the platform hands you,” said Austine Abolusoro, CEO and Co-Founder of Revve. “Our P2P feature changes that. It lets people in the diaspora transact directly with each other, better rates, faster settlement and a system that actually reflects how our community already moves money for one another.”

The launch also reflects a broader effort by Linearsend to make Revve more than a traditional money transfer app. The company is positioning the platform as a wider financial service for diaspora users who need to move and spend money across different markets.

Revve 2.0 Expands Beyond Money Transfers

Revve 2.0 includes a rebuilt app with instant transfers across a wider range of payment rails, including C2C and C2B transactions. Its integrations also support payouts through Alipay, WeChat and UnionPay, while UK and European bank transfers are now available directly through the app.

The company has also improved wallet management, redesigned statements to make transactions easier to track and streamlined onboarding and KYC processes.

Beyond transfers, the marketplace now includes airtime, bill payments, gift cards, pharmacy purchases through MedPlus and loan products. This gives users access to several everyday financial services from one platform rather than relying on multiple apps.

Linearsend is also developing an AI-powered customer support system aimed at reducing waiting times, although the feature will be introduced in a future release.

Revve 2.0 is now available on iOS and Android for diaspora users in Canada, the UK, US and Europe sending money to Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon and other African markets.
