Technology infrastructure is becoming one of the most important competitive advantages in financial services. Recognizing this shift, Huawei Cloud and Egyptian digital investment platform Thndr have signed a strategic partnership designed to accelerate the adoption of cloud and AI technologies across the fintech ecosystem. The collaboration reflects broader efforts to build a more efficient, secure and innovation-driven financial sector in Egypt.

The two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the Huawei Cloud Fintech Summit 2026 in Cairo. The agreement underscores a shared commitment to advancing fintech innovation and expanding the use of cloud computing, artificial intelligence and secure digital infrastructure across the country’s financial services industry.

By combining Huawei Cloud’s technology capabilities with Thndr’s growing digital investment platform, the partnership is expected to support the development of more intelligent financial services while strengthening Egypt’s position as one of the region’s emerging fintech markets.

The MoU was signed by Jo Xu, CEO of Huawei Cloud Egypt and Ahmad Hammouda, Co-Founder and CEO of Thndr, in the presence of senior leaders from the financial and technology sectors.

Advancing Egypt’s Digital Financial Ecosystem

The partnership is expected to have a positive impact on Egypt’s rapidly evolving fintech landscape by helping financial institutions and digital platforms improve operational efficiency, strengthen security and scale their services more effectively.

Through the agreement, Huawei Cloud and Thndr will collaborate on innovation initiatives that leverage cloud and AI technologies to create more seamless and intelligent customer experiences. The companies will also explore opportunities to enhance digital financial services while supporting the broader digital transformation of the financial sector.

The collaboration builds on Huawei Cloud’s growing presence in Egypt. Since launching its cloud region in the country in 2024, the company has invested in infrastructure designed to help organizations accelerate their digital transformation journeys through secure, flexible and scalable cloud services.

“Since launching our cloud region in Egypt in 2024, we have built a strong foundation that enables organizations to innovate through secure, flexible and scalable cloud services, accelerating their digital transformation journeys,” said Jo Xu.

He noted that Huawei Cloud has already witnessed significant progress in supporting Egypt’s fintech sector and sees the partnership with Thndr as a continuation of that momentum.

“Today, we are building on that momentum through our partnership with Thndr, as we work together to deliver advanced cloud and AI solutions that enhance the efficiency of digital financial services and enable more intelligent, adaptive customer experiences,” Xu said.

According to him, the collaboration reflects Huawei Cloud’s vision of helping the financial sector transition toward the next generation of intelligent services while improving competitiveness in an increasingly digital economy.

Huawei Cloud’s integrated cloud infrastructure combines computing, storage and networking capabilities supported by advanced hardware and software technologies. This foundation is designed to provide financial institutions with the performance, reliability and scalability required to operate in a fast-changing digital environment.

The company is also expanding its financial AI capabilities through a dedicated financial-grade AI agent enablement platform that supports multiple models and use cases. The platform is intended to help institutions accelerate the adoption of intelligent financial services and unlock new opportunities for innovation.

Supporting Financial Inclusion and Long-Term Growth

For Thndr, the partnership supports its broader mission of making investing more accessible to a larger number of people across Egypt and the wider region.

The company has emerged as one of Egypt’s leading digital investment platforms by providing individuals with easier access to investment opportunities. As demand for digital financial services continues to rise, the company sees cloud and AI technologies as critical tools for supporting future growth.

“At Thndr, our mission is to make investing more accessible, simple and inclusive for millions of people across Egypt and the region,” said Ahmad Hammouda.

He emphasized that achieving this goal requires a strong technology foundation capable of supporting growth while maintaining high levels of resilience and security.

“Achieving this mission requires not only innovation in financial services, but also strong technology foundations that can support growth, resilience, security and an exceptional customer experience,” Hammouda said.

He added that the company is pleased to strengthen its collaboration with Huawei Cloud as it continues to scale its platform and explore new opportunities enabled by cloud and AI technologies.

The partnership also builds on Huawei Cloud’s wider contribution to Egypt’s digital economy. Since establishing Egypt’s first large-scale public cloud region in 2024, the company has played a role in strengthening data sovereignty and supporting the country’s digital transformation ambitions.

Huawei Cloud is certified by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) and holds a Tier 3 license, allowing it to serve multiple sectors while meeting strict standards for compliance, governance and reliability.

To address the needs of the financial sector, Huawei Cloud provides a cloud environment aligned with Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA) requirements for data sovereignty and localization. This ensures that sensitive financial data is processed and stored within Egypt, helping institutions meet regulatory requirements while building trust among customers and stakeholders.

Together, Huawei Cloud and Thndr are positioning themselves to support the next phase of Egypt’s fintech development.
