Ethiopia is preparing to host one of Africa’s most important technology gatherings, Future Tech Addis (Future Tech Expo), scheduled for November 28 to 30, 2025, at the Addis International Convention Center in Addis Ababa. The three-day event will unite global investors, innovators and industry leaders to accelerate Ethiopia’s digital transformation and strengthen its growing role in the African technology ecosystem.

The forum is organized by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT) and Ethiopian IT Park, with RCNDC Consultancy serving as the execution partner. As a three-year, biannual event, Future Tech Addis is designed to attract foreign investment, highlight Ethiopia’s digital talent through the Batelian Initiative and secure international partnerships that can shape the country’s technological future.

At its core, Future Tech Addis is more than just a technology exhibition. It is a strategic platform for collaboration between startups, investors, policymakers and corporations who share a vision for a digitally empowered Ethiopia. The event will feature keynote discussions, investment matchmaking sessions and opportunities for companies to showcase their products and services to over 15,000 participants from more than 40 countries.

One of the highlights of this year’s edition is the Startup World Cup Ethiopia Edition, a national pitch competition that will take place during the event. The winning startup will represent Ethiopia in the global finals in Silicon Valley, USA, competing for a $1 million investment prize. For Ethiopian entrepreneurs, this is a rare opportunity to present their innovations to global investors and gain international recognition.

Beyond the competition, Future Tech Addis offers a wide range of opportunities for startups, investors and business leaders. Entrepreneurs can benefit from exposure to investors and potential partners, while investors can explore new markets and identify scalable ventures across sectors such as AI, FinTech, BPO, cloud, GreenTech and digital infrastructure. The event is expected to attract both regional and international venture capitalists eager to tap into Ethiopia’s fast-growing digital market.

For companies interested in expansion, Ethiopia’s IT Park provides strong incentives, including tax benefits, affordable and skilled talent and direct government support for innovation-driven projects. Through the event’s B2B and B2G matchmaking sessions, participants will be able to form meaningful partnerships, sign memoranda of understanding and lay the foundation for future collaborations in investment and technology.

The Batelian Initiative, featured at Future Tech Addis, will showcase Ethiopia’s growing digital workforce and connect global companies with skilled professionals such as software developers, engineers, accountants and digital service providers. This initiative reflects Ethiopia’s ambition to position itself as a global outsourcing and innovation destination, offering competitive talent at lower costs.

Ethiopia’s digital transformation journey is rapidly gaining global attention. With strong government backing and an increasingly tech-savvy youth population, the country is becoming a focal point for digital investment in East Africa. Future Tech Addis seeks to build on that momentum by creating a platform for knowledge exchange, policy dialogue and strategic investment.

Participants will also have the chance to engage directly with Ethiopian government officials and policymakers to discuss regulatory reforms aimed at improving the ease of doing business and creating a more investor-friendly environment. This dialogue is expected to help shape policies that will drive innovation and ensure sustainable digital growth.

Strategically located in Addis Ababa, the capital city that hosts the African Union and numerous international organizations, Future Tech Addis also serves as a gateway to the wider African market of over 1.3 billion people. The event’s emphasis on collaboration, investment and innovation reinforces Ethiopia’s vision to become a regional hub for technology and digital trade.

By the end of the three days, Future Tech Addis is expected to generate tangible outcomes, from partnerships and investment commitments to talent connections and policy insights. For startups, investors and global companies, it represents a chance not only to be part of Ethiopia’s digital future but also to help shape it.

Future Tech Addis 2025 is set to become a cornerstone event for Africa’s technology and investment community, offering participants the opportunity to gain early market advantage, connect with top innovators and contribute to one of the continent’s most dynamic digital transformations.
