Condia will bring together key players from Africa’s financial and business sectors at The Borderless Experience on 21 August 2026 in Lagos, as businesses continue to face challenges when moving money across African markets.
The event, which will be held at the Landmark Event Centre, will bring together fintech founders, payment companies, banks, regulators, investors, travel operators and logistics businesses to discuss the practical challenges involved in operating across borders.
For African businesses expanding into new markets, cross-border payments remain a major operational issue. Companies may have customers in Nigeria, suppliers in Kenya and employees in South Africa, but different currencies, banking systems, foreign exchange costs and licensing requirements can make moving money between these markets difficult.
Addressing the Practical Challenges of Expansion
Benjamin Dada, founder of Condia, said the idea for the event came from conversations with people building businesses across Africa who were struggling to find answers to basic operational questions.
Questions around where to find a banking partner, which licences are required and who to hire can delay expansion, even when a company already has demand in another market.
Dada said Condia wants to create a platform where these practical issues can be discussed directly, rather than focusing only on broad discussions about the future of fintech.
The Borderless Experience will therefore examine payment infrastructure, settlement, liquidity, foreign exchange and banking partnerships, as well as the regulatory requirements businesses face when entering different African markets.
The discussions are expected to be relevant to businesses beyond the fintech sector. Travel companies accepting payments from customers in other countries, logistics firms paying suppliers across borders and online retailers serving customers in different markets all depend on payment systems that are reliable and affordable.
When these systems are inefficient, businesses can face higher costs, delays and difficulties managing their operations.
Stablecoins, Banking and the Wider Business Ecosystem
Stablecoins will also form part of the discussion as businesses explore new approaches to cross-border payments. Dollar-backed digital assets can provide another way of moving value between countries, but they do not remove challenges related to regulation, liquidity, banking access or converting funds into local currencies.
The event will bring these issues into the same conversation as payment infrastructure, banking and market expansion, giving businesses an opportunity to examine how different solutions work in practice.
Condia has spent almost eight years covering and engaging with Africa’s fintech industry through journalism, community building and industry events. The Borderless Experience builds on that work by bringing together the people directly involved in cross-border business.
For companies already trading across African markets, these are not distant concerns. They are challenges they face every day. By bringing financial institutions, regulators, technology companies and businesses from sectors such as travel and logistics into one room, Condia aims to support more practical conversations around how African businesses can operate and expand across borders.
The event could provide an important platform for identifying solutions that make cross-border trade easier, improve access to financial services and help businesses operate more efficiently across African markets.
