Egypt has secured another major technology investment after Coca-Cola HBC launched a new Digital Hub in Cairo, reinforcing the country’s growing role in digital services while creating new employment opportunities and supporting export growth.
The new global digital delivery center will support Coca-Cola HBC’s operations across 27 markets in Europe and Africa. It brings together expertise in artificial intelligence (AI), software engineering and development, quality assurance and testing, user experience (UI/UX) design and agile delivery to develop business-critical digital solutions that improve innovation and operational efficiency across the company’s international operations.
The launch also reflects growing confidence in Egypt as a competitive destination for export-oriented digital services and high-value outsourcing. The inauguration was attended by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindy, Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El Khatib, Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) CEO Ahmed Elzaher, and Coca-Cola HBC CEO Zoran Bogdanovic.
Driving digital exports and skilled employment
The Digital Hub currently employs around 250 professionals and is expected to expand to 450 employees by 2027. The expansion is projected to contribute approximately $34 million annually to Egypt’s digital exports while creating more opportunities for highly skilled technology professionals.
Commenting on the launch, Ahmed Elzaher described the Digital Hub as “a significant milestone in the partnership between the Egyptian government and global companies.” He said the project reflects the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s continued efforts to attract investment, develop digital talent and expand Egypt’s digital exports.
The investment builds on a partnership between Coca-Cola HBC and ITIDA that began in 2024. The relationship was strengthened through a memorandum of understanding signed during the Global Offshoring Summit to support the company’s expansion plans, enhance Egypt’s digital export capabilities, and develop specialized technology talent.
Supporting Egypt’s digital transformation
Coca-Cola HBC joins a growing number of multinational companies establishing digital delivery centers in Egypt as businesses increasingly seek access to large pools of skilled technology talent without compromising technical expertise. The trend has gathered pace under Egypt’s national digital economy strategy, which aims to strengthen the country’s position as a global hub for business services and outsourcing.
According to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Egypt signed agreements with 55 local and international companies last year that are expected to create more than 75,000 jobs over three years, reflecting increasing demand for the country’s digital workforce. Coca-Cola HBC is among the companies supporting this broader effort to expand Egypt’s technology sector.
The Digital Hub adds to the company’s growing investment in the country. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly recently inaugurated a new production line at Coca-Cola Hellenic Egypt’s factory in Alexandria, backed by a $35 million investment, further demonstrating the company’s long-term commitment to the Egyptian market.
Together, these investments are expected to strengthen Egypt’s digital economy, increase exports, create high-value employment and reinforce the country’s position as a leading destination for technology investment and digital services in the region.
