Breadfast Launches New Card to Simplify Financial Management in Egypt

Egyptian quick commerce company Breadfast has launched its newest innovation, the Breadfast Card, through its fintech arm Breadfast Pay. The card’s introduction marks an important step in the company’s journey from a grocery delivery platform to a full-fledged digital ecosystem. By integrating payments, savings and expense management into one app, Breadfast aims to make financial management simpler and more accessible for Egyptian households.

Founded in 2017 by Mostafa Amin, Muhammad Habib and Abdallah Nofal, Breadfast began as a same-day bakery and grocery delivery service that quickly expanded across major Egyptian cities. What started as a convenience service has now evolved into a platform with a bigger purpose, building an all-in-one super app that supports Egyptian families in both their shopping and financial lives. The launch of the Breadfast Card is the latest step in realizing that vision.

The Breadfast Card allows users to make seamless payments, withdraw cash from ATMs and track their household spending directly through the Breadfast app. It also offers cashback rewards and special perks for users who shop and manage their expenses through the platform. Designed for ease of use, the card provides a practical solution for individuals and families who want better control over their daily finances.

This initiative is not just about digital payments; it’s about financial empowerment. For many Egyptian consumers, especially those in middle-income households, traditional banking can be complex or inaccessible. Breadfast Pay seeks to change that by making financial tools available within an app that is already a part of their everyday routine. With this new offering, Breadfast is positioning itself as a trusted partner in how Egyptians manage, spend and save money.

The card’s development was made possible through key partnerships with Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) Egypt, Visa and Masria Digital Payments (MDP). The product is approved and regulated by the Central Bank of Egypt, ensuring compliance with national financial standards and reinforcing consumer confidence. These collaborations demonstrate Breadfast’s commitment to creating secure, transparent and reliable financial products. By combining local expertise with global payment networks, the company is setting a new benchmark for fintech innovation in Egypt.

Earlier this year, Breadfast received a $10 million investment from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as part of its Series B2 round led by Novastar Ventures. The funding pushed the company’s valuation to about $400 million and has been instrumental in expanding its operations in Cairo, Giza, Alexandria and Mansoura. It also provided the foundation for new ventures like Breadfast Pay. This move shows the company’s intent to merge e-commerce and fintech into a single, seamless consumer experience.

Breadfast’s expansion into fintech reflects a broader trend in Egypt’s digital economy, where innovation and inclusion are becoming central themes. The country’s young population, increasing smartphone usage and growing trust in digital payments have created fertile ground for companies like Breadfast to introduce technology-driven financial solutions. The Breadfast Card comes at a time when Egypt is actively encouraging financial inclusion and supporting digital transformation through its Central Bank initiatives.

For Breadfast, this is more than a product launch, it’s a statement about its future direction. The company is no longer just a quick commerce operator; it is transforming into a multi-service digital ecosystem that aims to simplify life for Egyptian consumers. By aligning with established financial institutions and embracing regulatory compliance, Breadfast Pay is positioning itself as a serious player in Egypt’s rapidly evolving fintech space.
