Bosta Invests $5Million in Automation to Boost Egypt’s Logistics Capacity

Egypt’s logistics sector is entering a new phase as automation begins to reshape how goods move across the country. With the launch of the largest automated sorting machine in the Middle East, Bosta is positioning itself at the center of this transformation, strengthening delivery capacity and supporting the fast-growing e-commerce economy.

The new machine is designed to handle the scale and speed required by modern online commerce. By improving sorting accuracy and processing time, the investment is expected to reduce delays, limit manual errors and help merchants reach customers faster. For small and medium-sized businesses that depend on reliable delivery, this development could remove one of the biggest barriers to growth.

The launch reflects a broader shift toward smart logistics infrastructure in Egypt, where rising online demand is putting pressure on traditional delivery systems. By investing heavily in automation, Bosta is not only responding to current needs but also preparing for future volumes as digital commerce continues to expand.

Building Capacity for a Rapidly Growing Market

Bosta officially unveiled the automated sorting machine during an event attended by H.E. Minister of Planning Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, industry partners, entrepreneurs and media representatives. The event highlighted how technology can help modernize logistics operations and support national economic priorities.

The machine introduces capabilities not previously available at this scale in the region. According to Mohamed Ezzat, CEO of Bosta, the system marks a regional first in terms of speed and coverage.

“Today, we announce the launch of the largest automated sorting machine in the Middle East, with capabilities that are the first of their kind in the region. It can process 11,000 parcels per hour and more than 250,000 parcels per day, distributed across over 50 operational hubs nationwide.”

This level of capacity is critical as e-commerce volumes continue to rise. Faster sorting means parcels move more quickly through the delivery network, allowing merchants to promise shorter delivery times and better service to customers across Egypt.

The investment behind the machine is also significant. Ezzat emphasized that the project represents a long-term commitment to smart infrastructure rather than a short-term upgrade.

“The investment in this automated sorting machine alone has reached USD 5 million, equivalent to nearly EGP 240 million. Meanwhile, Bosta’s total investments currently stand at USD 27 million, exceeding EGP 1.2 billion. This reflects Bosta’s commitment to developing smart infrastructure capable of accommodating the rapid growth of e-commerce. This investment directly contributes to improving delivery speed and operational accuracy, as technology has become a key factor in reducing operational errors and enhancing the efficiency of Egypt’s logistics ecosystem.”

Scaling Operations While Supporting Merchants

The launch comes at a time when shipment volumes are increasing sharply. As more businesses move online, logistics providers must handle higher volumes without sacrificing accuracy or reliability.

Karim El Deeb, Chief Operations Officer at Bosta, highlighted the scale of growth the company is managing and why automation has become necessary.

“The volume of shipments we handle has grown significantly over the past years. In 2025, we processed 37 million parcels annually, and this year we aim to more than double that number in 2026, surpassing 80 million parcels. This highlights the importance of the new automated sorting machine, which will increase our operational capacity from 100,000 parcels per day to more than 250,000 parcels daily and over 6 million parcels per month, enabling us to handle larger volumes with greater speed and accuracy.”

Beyond speed and volume, the investment also supports merchants who rely on consistent delivery to build trust with customers. Bosta offers an integrated ecosystem that includes delivery, warehousing, fulfillment, order management and technology and financing tools. This allows businesses, especially SMEs, to focus on growth while logistics are handled efficiently.

As one of Egypt’s fastest-growing logistics companies, Bosta’s continued investment in automation and smart systems strengthens its role as a long-term partner for merchants. More broadly, it contributes to the development of Egypt’s digital economy and improves the competitiveness of the national logistics sector at a time when efficiency and reliability are becoming essential to economic growth.
