Egyptian education technology startup Eduact has been acquired by Jordan-based edtech company Abwaab in a deal that will expand access to digital tools for independent teachers and learning centres across Egypt. The acquisition brings Eduact’s software and network of educators into Abwaab’s wider education platform, creating an opportunity for teachers and smaller education providers to manage more of their operations through technology.
The deal is expected to strengthen Abwaab’s presence in Egypt while allowing it to serve a wider section of the education market. Rather than focusing only on students, the company will now have greater capacity to support the educators and learning centres that play an important role in both physical and digital learning.
For Eduact, joining Abwaab also provides access to a larger regional platform that could help its technology reach more education providers in Egypt and potentially other markets across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Strengthening Digital Infrastructure for Educators
Founded in Egypt in 2020 by Adham Hamed and Ali Hisham, Eduact developed a software-as-a-service platform for independent teachers and small learning centres. Its technology enables educators to manage video content, grading, payments and administrative activities, while helping connect online and offline learning.
The integration of these capabilities into Abwaab’s platform could make it easier for teachers and learning centres to manage their work and engage with students through digital tools. It also gives Abwaab a stronger business-to-business offering alongside the curriculum content and assessment products it already provides to students.
Abwaab was founded in Jordan in 2019 by Hamdi Tabbaa, Sabri Hakim and Hussein AlSarabi. The company operates across six MENA markets, providing curriculum-aligned digital learning, assessment products and other education services.
Abwaab co-founder and CEO Hamdi Tabbaa said the company believes regional education transformation depends on working with teams that have already built trust and solved problems within local communities. Eduact’s existing relationships with Egyptian educators therefore give Abwaab a local network that can support its expansion.
Building a Broader Education Business
The Eduact acquisition is Abwaab’s second acquisition in 2026, following its purchase of Egypt-based Apex Education earlier in the year. Apex focuses on international university admissions, giving Abwaab a presence in higher education preparation and advisory services.
Together, the two acquisitions show a wider strategy to build an education platform that supports different participants throughout the learning journey. Eduact adds infrastructure for teachers and learning centres, while Apex strengthens services for students preparing for university.
The latest deal could also help Abwaab respond to the continued importance of private tutors and learning centres in Egypt, where education is delivered through a combination of schools, tutoring businesses and digital platforms.
By combining Eduact’s technology and educator network with its own content, assessments and regional reach, Abwaab is positioning itself to play a larger role across both digital and traditional education.
