Brian Sango, a Senior International Property Investment Consultant with 16 years in the real estate industry, was recognized this week at the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards Global, marking a milestone that brings his career full circle more than a decade after his first major industry accolade.
Sango, who has spent 14 of his 16 years in the property business focused on sales across South Africa before expanding into offshore markets in Greece and Cyprus, described the honor as the product of sustained effort across borders.
“It takes a lot of invisible hours, consistency, and pure grit to keep pushing the needle forward when you’re building across borders,” Sango said. “Receiving this Global Honorary Award is a deeply humbling milestone, but more than anything, it’s a testament to the will to just keep going.”
The recognition carries particular weight given its timing and location. Sango was first honored by the South African chapter of the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards in 2015, when he was named Business Professional of the Year.
Eleven years later, he returns to the stage on a global scale, this time as what he describes as an ambassador for the brand across the markets he now serves (Zimbabwe, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Greece and the United Arab Emirates).
“Back in 2015, the South African chapter of the Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (ZAA) honored me as the Business Professional of the Year,” Sango said. “Cut to 11 years later, and here we are still in the property game, still grinding, but this time being recognized on a global scale as an ambassador flying the flag high across the world.”
The evening also marked the first time Sango has celebrated an industry honor on home soil, with family present for the occasion.
“What made it truly special was having my family right there to embrace it with me; celebrating an honor on home soil for the very first time hits completely differently,” he said. “Getting to reunite and celebrate the moment with old friends made the night even better.”
Sango was candid about the less visible costs behind the recognition, pointing to years of pressure that rarely make it into public accounts of entrepreneurial success.
“When people see the accolades, it’s easy to glorify the end result,” he said. “But as entrepreneurs and business owners, we rarely talk about the heavy lifting behind closed doors or the immense mental stress, the dark times, and the quiet seasons spent navigating challenges just to tie two ends together. Honestly? I wouldn’t change a single thing. Those exact pressures build character, and character is everything in business. It’s what keeps you on the stage over a decade later, and it’s exactly what has pushed me onto a completely different wavelength for this next chapter.”
He credited his faith, family, colleagues and his current team at Global Residential for supporting the journey.
“First and foremost, I owe this to God,” Sango said. “Massive gratitude to my family for always pushing me, to the phenomenal colleagues I’ve shared rooms with over the last 16 years, and to my current team at Global Residential.”
The ceremony drew government leadership, with Sango noting the presence of Zimbabwe’s Minister of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training, the Hon. Tinoda Machakaire.
“It was a privilege to celebrate alongside brilliant global minds, and a distinct honor to have the evening graced by government leadership,” he said.
Looking ahead, Sango framed the award not as a capstone but as momentum for what comes next in his career.
“But milestones are just pit stops,” he said. “This recognition is really just the fuel and build-up for a number of major drives I’m pushing next. The work keeps moving. Let’s build.”
