StArfrica has unveiled 10 Faces Changing Africa – Kenya (Women Edition), an initiative that celebrates ten remarkable women whose vision, resilience and entrepreneurial spirit are transforming Kenya and shaping Africa’s future. These leaders are bold, innovative and unapologetically entrepreneurial, setting examples of how women can drive meaningful change across sectors including healthcare, agriculture, energy, finance and technology. By sharing their stories, StArfrica highlights the positive impact women entrepreneurs have on their communities, economies and the wider continent.

Norah Magero is a mechanical engineer and renewable energy consultant who has made energy access and gender inclusion her life’s work. As co-founder of Cool Green Campaign, she mentors high school students on renewable energy, while her non-profit, Drop Access, is redefining energy access in rural areas through innovative solutions and financing models. Norah’s work has earned her recognition as a 2020 Booking.com Technology Playmaker finalist and the 2017 Women in Energy East Africa Community Philanthropy Award. She is also an alumna of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and the Micro-Grid Academy. Her efforts demonstrate the transformative potential of combining technology with social impact to expand opportunities for underserved communities.

Joyce Kamande is a social entrepreneur committed to improving food security and livelihoods for small-scale farmers. As co-founder and operations manager of Safi Organics, she turns crop waste into high-yielding organic fertilizers, ensuring farmers have access to the resources they need to grow sustainably. Her experience in procurement within the insurance and tech sectors has shaped her ability to create solutions with both local and global impact, particularly for underserved communities. Joyce’s work exemplifies how socially minded entrepreneurship can address pressing agricultural challenges.

Naom Monari founded Benacare in 2017 to fill gaps she observed in healthcare delivery while training as a student nurse. Her mobile health initiative, including the Renal Roads mobile dialysis service, the first in Sub-Saharan Africa, brings life-saving care directly to patients, cutting costs and bridging distances. Starting with limited support at age 24, Naom has built a blueprint for decentralizing healthcare and addressing systemic inequities, proving that innovation in healthcare can be both scalable and socially transformative.

Millicent Okumu, CEO and co-founder of Agriflex Ltd., is revolutionizing agriculture with sustainable, data-driven crop protection solutions for smallholder farmers. Using drones, sensors and analytics, Agriflex empowers farmers to optimize crop health, reduce costs and adopt eco-friendly practices. Millicent’s work prioritizes women and marginalized communities, demonstrating how agricultural innovation can drive both inclusion and sustainability.

Yvonne Kagondu is a blockchain and Web3 professional dedicated to building inclusive digital communities. As founder and lead of ICP Hub Kenya, she has trained over 1,000 developers and incubated startups addressing Africa’s most pressing challenges. Her efforts are expanding access to technology and digital skills, positioning youth to thrive in the emerging Web3 economy.

Beverly Senda, founder of Pana+Care, is expanding access to specialized healthcare for patients with chronic conditions in underserved areas. Recognized globally, including as one of the Top 7 Women-led Startups by Standard Chartered and an African Union Youth Start-Up Award recipient, Beverly leverages technology to deliver health solutions that are equitable and impactful.

Awuor Oketch, founder and CEO of Ambulex Solutions, is improving access to emergency medical services in Kenya. By building partnerships and scaling tech-enabled solutions, Ambulex now reaches thousands of households, offering reliable and affordable care. Awuor’s work demonstrates how innovation can transform essential public services.

Pamela Nthiga, founder and CEO of FarmBase Feeds Ltd., focuses on livestock nutrition and farmer training. Her affordable, high-quality animal feeds have improved productivity and incomes for farmers nationwide. Pamela’s entrepreneurial journey combines vision, strategy and community empowerment to strengthen agricultural livelihoods.

Peninah Wanja is a skilled accountant with over eight years of experience in financial management, risk assessment and operational excellence. Her work ensures businesses maximize resources efficiently while maintaining compliance, illustrating the critical role finance plays in sustainable growth.

Dr. Priscilla Nyambura Maina is a radiology specialist in Nairobi, delivering accurate and patient-centered diagnostic imaging. Her commitment to using advanced technology and providing accessible care exemplifies the integration of expertise and empathy in the healthcare sector.

Collectively, these ten women represent resilience, innovation and leadership across multiple sectors. By celebrating their achievements, StArfrica not only recognizes individual excellence but also underscores the broader positive impact of women-led entrepreneurship in Kenya. These trailblazers are creating jobs, empowering communities, fostering sustainable growth and inspiring the next generation of African leaders. Initiatives like 10 Faces Changing Africa shine a spotlight on the transformative power of women in business and reaffirm that inclusive innovation is essential for Africa’s continued development.
